Equality Bodies are public organisations that assist victims of discrimination, monitor and report on discrimination issues, and promote equality. They are legally mandated to act on one, several, or all grounds of discrimination covered by European Union law – gender, race and ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief, and disability. Many Equality Bodies go beyond these grounds, addressing intersectional discrimination and contemporary challenges such as algorithmic bias, climate change, and socio-economic inequalities.
From ensuring equal access to employment and education to healthcare, services, and sports, Equality Bodies play a vital role in fostering inclusive societies where diversity is celebrated, and discrimination is eliminated.
This calendar celebrates the profound impact of Equality Bodies by bringing together 12 real-life stories from Equinet members. These cases highlight how Equality Bodies drive change and make a tangible difference in people’s lives across Europe.
