Equinet Calendar 2023

In December 2022, the European Commission published two legislative proposals that set minimum standards for National Equality Bodies. This was indeed an historic moment for Equality Bodies.

For this reason,  the new edition of the Equinet Calendar aims at highligthing the importance of a wider mandate, extensive powers, independence, resources and accessibility for Equality Bodies. It includes a collection of examples to better understand how Equality Bodies work and how standards will make a difference in their work and ultimately, for equality in Europe.

We have gathered 12 cases on various grounds of discrimination and areas of life, coming from:

• Office of the Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights (Ombudsman), Cyprus;
• National Commission for the Promotion of Equality (NCPE), Malta;
• Unia (Interfederal Centre for Equal Opportunities), Belgium;
• Office of the Public Defender of Rights, Czech Republic;
• Commissioner for Human Rights, Poland;
• Advocate of the Prince of Equality, Slovenia;
• Office of the Equal Opportunities Ombudsperson, Lithuania;
• Office of the Greek Ombudsman, Greece;
• Ombudsman’s Office, Latvia;
• Equality Ombudsman, Sweden;
• Ombudsman for Persons with Disabilities, Croatia;
• Non-Discrimination Ombudsman, Finland.
