This study visit took take place in Paris on 13 April (with an AI cluster meeting on 14 April in the morning).
Background
To leverage the previous experiences of Equality Bodies and the Equinet Artificial Intelligence Cluster, and to ensure that relevant knowledge is captured and shared with members throughout the network, on 13 April Equinet will host a study visit with the Defender of Rights (Défenseur des Droits) in Paris, to showcase their good practices in the field of AI. During this study visit, participants will learn about how data protection law and partnerships with national data protection authorities can be used by Equality Bodies to tackle AI-enabled discrimination. This study visit showcased specific and potentially replicable activities of an Equality Body in addressing AI-enabled discrimination and data protection law at the national level.

PEReN was created to answer the need to understand how digital platforms work, and set or adapt their regulation. It is a centre of expertise in data science that can provide technical support and guidance to state administrations in need. It can assist services with regulatory powers. PEReN can also provide its expertise in research work commissioned by state administrations by conducting exploratory or scientific studies.
