Marta Pompili is a Policy Officer at Equinet, responsible for coordinating the network’s work on gender equality.
She holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations and European Studies from the University of Florence, Italy, with a dissertation on the conceptualization of women’s rights within the universalism vs. relativism debate in International Human Rights Law. She also earned a Post-Graduate Diploma from Smith College, Massachusetts, USA, where she conducted interdisciplinary research with a focus on Women and Gender Studies.
Before joining Equinet, Marta worked at the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), where she contributed to projects exploring the interconnection between violent extremism and gender-based discrimination. She also previously supported Equinet’s Policy and Legal Team, working on a range of topics, including gender equality and the equality implications of climate change and climate policy.
Fun fact: Marta was a ballet dancer for over 12 years. Although she no longer practices regularly today, she still loves styling her hair in a bun!
