The Report: “Regulating AI: The new role for equality bodies” highlights key challenges to equality and non-discrimination from increased digitisation and the use of Artificial Intelligence, and makes proposals for the future work of equality bodies. The report maps and identifies the equality implications of AI systems, and the nature, scope and approach of Equinet’s Members in the discussions on AI and algorithmic discrimination. It also provides practical guidance on identifying and assessing the equality-relevant consequences of AI and automated-decision making.
In the process of preparing this Report it became clear that there were, in essence, six key questions for equality bodies. These questions have been borne in mind in every stage in the preparation of this Report. The questions are:
