“Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something very well”, that was the motto of the Austrian Disability Ombud, Hansjörg Hofer, who sadly passed away on Friday night.
The Equinet Secretariat, Executive Board and membership extend their sincere condolences to staff at the Austrian Disability Ombud, as well as the family and friends of Mr.Hofer.
A valued member of the Equinet family, “Dr. Hofer was appreciated everywhere for his extraordinary commitment, expertise and perseverance. Working for people with disabilities was his life’s work, which he has pursued with great passion,“ according to his deputy Elke Niederl.
Hansjörg Hofer has been the Disability Ombud since 2017, and in this function has played a decisive role in determining the political framework conditions for people with disabilities in Austria. “For all who have worked with him, he will be remembered as a courageous and determined team player. We employees always found an open ear with him. His optimism and dry humour will also remain unforgotten. We would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Hansjörg Hofer,” said Elke Niederl, Deputy Attorney for Equal Treatment Issues for People with Disabilities.
