The task of the Non-Discrimination Ombudsman is to advance equality in Finland and to prevent and tackle discrimination. The Non-Discrimination Ombudsman is an independent and autonomous authority. You can turn to the Non-Discrimination Ombudsman if you have experienced or witnessed discrimination on the basis of age, ethnic or national origin, nationality, language, religion, belief, opinion, political activity, trade union activism, family connections, state of health, disability, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics.
The Non-Discrimination Ombudsman was founded 1.1.2015. when the new Non-Discrimination act came to force. Before the ombudsman was named “Ombudsman for minorities” and had only mandate to tackle ethnic discrimination.

The Non-Discrimination Obudsman is appointed By the Government.
